LAIBACH |
|
The history of this wine farm can be traced back until the year of 1818. Originally named "Good Success", owned by Daniel Johannes van Ryneveld from Amsterdam (Netherlands), this vast farm extended to most of the catchment area in the valley enclosed by the Simonsberg, Kanonkop and Klapmutsberg. Later on it was divided into three farms: Warwick, De Goede Suces and the remainder of the farm Good Success, which was from 1895 until 1994 in the possession of the du Plessis family, until it was taken over by the Laibach family. Until the 1995 harvest the prized grapes of this 50 hectare Estate, situated in the Muldersvlei Bowl, one of the prime red wine areas of South Africa, were sold in bulk to Nederburg in Paarl. The Good Success Farm was actually one of the oldest suppliers of Nederburg with grapes.

We are on the northern side Stellenbosch , which makes up the Simonsberg/ Muldersvlei ward. Our neighbouring wineries are Kanonkop, Uitkyk, Warwick, Laibach. De Meye is a family owned and run business. The farm and winery is named after the De Meye River in the Netherlands. This is where the first Myburgh who came to South Africa in 1665, used to live. The owner is Jan Myburgh, who is the fifth generation to farm in this area. He started farming with vines over 30 years ago. Grapes were sold to Nederburg and Stellenbosch Farmers' Winery. In 1997, it was decided to renovate some of the old farm buildings and make our own wines.

NEIL ELLIS |
![]() |
Neil Ellis Wines differs from most South African wineries in that instead of owning vineyards we have focused on producing the best wine possible and sourcing the grapes from top quality growers. Recognizing that different grape varieties thrive under different soil and climate conditions which are not likely to be found on a single estate, from our company's start our philosophy has been to locate those areas that produce a distinctive grape quality and work closely with quality-minded growers in those areas. Today our grapes come from three main vineyard sites: Oude Nektar Farm in Jonkershoek, Stellenbosch; Contreberg Farm in Groenekloof, Darling; the Whitehall farm in Elgin |
